Free background maker tools: sizes, privacy, commercial use and Pro
It depends on where the background is going. For a phone or desktop wallpaper, the wallpaper maker exports the exact size of your device. For video calls, the Teams background maker adds your name, title and logo. For websites and video, Gradient Lab makes animated gradients. All of them are free, run in your browser and need no signup.
Pick the tool that matches the job, choose a starting point (a gradient, a color, a galaxy or your own photo), adjust the colors and size, then click Export to download a PNG, JPG or video. Nothing installs and you do not need an account, so a finished background usually takes under a minute.
Yes. Every tool is free with no signup and no watermark. Most export free at every size they offer, including 8K in image to gradient and 4K loops in the animated background generator. Gradient Lab, the halftone gradient generator and grainy gradients are free up to 1,920 px; 4K and 8K there come with Pro.
Yes. Open the wallpaper maker, pick your phone model and choose a free background, a gradient or your own photo. The preview shows the lock screen so you can place the subject around the clock, and the download matches your screen exactly, for example 1206×2622 for iPhone 17 Pro or 1320×2868 for the Pro Max models.
Match your screen: 1920×1080 for Full HD, 2560×1440 for 1440p, 3840×2160 for 4K, and 3440×1440 or 5120×1440 for ultrawide monitors. The wallpaper maker has these sizes plus Mac displays and dual monitor setups, where you can save two files or one wide image for Windows' Span option.
Use the Teams background maker. Pick a background, add your name, job title and company logo, and download it at 1920×1080, the 16:9 size Teams and Zoom both handle well. Then upload it in your meeting's background settings in Teams, or under Background & Effects in Zoom.
