In short
- We collect what we need to run your account: your email, what you buy, and how you use the site and app.
- Card details go to Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record. We never see them.
- Images you load into the Gradient Lab stay in your browser. They are not uploaded.
- We do not sell your data. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
1. Who we are
Backgrounds Supply (“we”, “us”) runs backgrounds.supply and app.backgrounds.supply (together, the “Service”). This policy covers both and explains what personal data we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Contact: kailash@backgrounds.supply.
2. What we collect
Account
- Your email address, and your name if you give it or sign in with Google.
- Sign-in records: one-time sign-in links, sessions and the time you last signed in.
- IP address and browser details, used for security, abuse prevention and rate limits.
Newsletter
- Your email address, if you subscribe to updates on backgrounds.supply or leave it in the Gradient Lab.
Purchases
- What you bought (the full pack, a collection or credits), the price, the currency, the date and the order and payment references.
- Your credit balance and how credits were added or spent.
- License keys you activate from earlier Lemon Squeezy purchases.
- We do not receive or store your card number. Dodo Payments collects payment details and your billing country to process the payment and the tax.
Use of the Service
- Downloads, saved backgrounds, and what you open or try to unlock.
- Pages and buttons you use, and how you first arrived (for example the page you landed on, the site that sent you and campaign tags in the link), so we can see which pages and collections are useful.
- AI generations: the prompt, the style, and the resulting image, kept in your library.
- Images you attach to a background request, kept to fulfil the request.
- Emails we send you and whether they were delivered or opened.
Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics (page views and performance), Google Analytics (traffic and page performance), Hotjar and Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps and session recordings, with on-screen text such as email addresses masked) to understand how the Service is used and to fix problems.
Images in the Gradient Lab
When you load your own image into the Gradient Lab, it is processed in your browser. It is not uploaded to our servers or to any third party.
3. Why we use it
- To provide the Service: sign you in, deliver what you bought, run AI generations and keep your library.
- To process payments and keep the records that tax and accounting rules require.
- To send emails about your account and purchases, new collections and occasional offers. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails with the link in every email.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and fraud, and fix errors.
- To understand what is useful and improve the Service.
Our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (your account and purchases), legal obligations (tax and accounting records), and our legitimate interests (security, analytics and product emails). Where consent is required, we ask for it.
4. Who processes it
We do not sell or rent personal data. We share it only with the providers that run the Service for us:
- Dodo Payments: payments, taxes and receipts, as Merchant of Record.
- Lemon Squeezy: earlier full pack purchases and license key checks.
- Vercel: hosting and analytics.
- Turso: our database.
- Cloudflare: file storage for backgrounds and generated images, and traffic routing.
- Resend: sending email.
- Google (Gemini) and fal.ai: AI image generation. They receive your prompt and any reference image used for that generation.
- Google Analytics, Hotjar and Microsoft Clarity: analytics.
- Google: sign-in, if you choose “Continue with Google”.
- Telegram: private notifications to the owner about new sign-ups and purchases.
These providers may process data outside your country. We rely on their standard safeguards for international transfers. We may also disclose data if the law requires it.
5. Cookies
We use a sign-in cookie to keep you signed in across backgrounds.supply and app.backgrounds.supply, a first-party cookie that remembers how you first arrived, and a few small cookies to remember preferences such as the last style you used. Google Analytics, Hotjar and Microsoft Clarity set analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies.
6. How long we keep it
- Account data and your library: while your account exists.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, even after an account is deleted.
- Analytics data: according to each analytics provider's retention settings.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent. Email kailash@backgrounds.supply from the address on your account. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Security
We use reputable providers, encrypted connections and access controls. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you if a breach affects you.
9. Children
The Service is not meant for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we will tell you about significant changes.
